Four Crowns 1898 is the perfect balance of modern machine embroidery and traditional quilt making.
Sharon was going through her vintage fabrics and patterns and came across a version of the Four Crowns quilt block from the 1890s. She was so inspired by the Four Crowns and some of the 1920s reprint fabrics that she wanted to do her own take on it.
After a few weeks of pattern and embroidery designing, she developed the Four Crowns 1898 pattern and embroidery files.
The Four Crowns 1898 quilt pattern is wonderfully simple and beautiful. Using her Piec-Lique glue basting technique it is extremely easy to assemble.
The embroidery files are delicate and contrast the quilt pattern in a way that only Sharon could have done.
After Sharon was finished with the pattern and stitched the embroidery files she assembled the entire quilt on her 1910 Singer treadle sewing machine. According to Sharon, it was one of the most comforting and rewarding experiences of her quilting career.
